Why do you care about helping Health Centers?

I care about helping Health Centers as they take care of patients while operating in a highly regulated environment that puts their business at increased risk. As an entrepreneur I am passionate about helping Health Centers reduce their risk and increase their revenues.

What do you care about personally?

My wife and two boys and I deeply care about building a business that adds value to our members, employees and communities.

Your Education: I have Undergraduate Degrees in Chemical Engineering and Economics with a minor in Computer Science from BITS Pilani, India and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Your Hobbies: Volunteering, Reading with my kids and Participating in Marathons.

Sajid Ahmed

Sajid Ahmed is a true innovator and pioneer in healthcare information systems. He has unparalleled experience in all aspects of applying computer technology and web-based applications to deliver the highest quality of medical care to patients, to facilitate collaboration among multiple and diverse medical care providers and systems, and to increase the efficiency of healthcare environments. He is the visionary behind WISE Healthcare and is guiding its work in artificial intelligence (AI), workflow engineering for healthcare organizations, virtual healthcare, and more.

Currently serving as an adviser to the leadership team at Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital (MLKCH) in South Los Angeles, Sajid was formerly the hospital’s chief information and innovation officer. In that role he oversaw the hospital’s $70 million health information technology initiative and launched an innovation hub on the 42-acre MLK Medical Center Campus.

Sajid’s prior experience also includes serving as director of health information technology and innovation for L.A. Care Health Plan, the nation’s largest public plan, serving over 1 million Los Angeles County residents through free or low-cost health insurance programs. He was responsible for coordinating, managing, and integrating healthcare information technology and eHealth initiatives among multiple users and partners. This includes all medical care providers, community organizations, government agencies, vendors, and other health information technologies. He served as vice chair of the organization’s Technical Advisory Committee. One of his most significant contributions to L.A. Care is the creation of HITEC-LA (Health Information Technology Extension Center for Los Angeles County) for electronic health record adoption and implementation for providers throughout L.A. County. He created and launched eConsult in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services before leaving L.A. Care. EConsult is an innovative telehealth system that allows for virtual consultations and collaboration with specialists. As eConsult expands throughout California and accumulates thousands of end users, it is becoming a national model for the standard for care coordination and access to specialty care in the U.S.

Prior to his work on eConsult, Sajid was the visionary behind SelfMD™, where he developed artificial intelligence tools, including emulating logical inferences of cognition and intuition theory. He was instrumental in getting the U.S. Military Medical Command to adopt advanced diagnostic technologies and electronic health records systems. Sajid also served as co-chair on health IT committees for California’s Health and Human Services Agency, helping to draft the state’s $38.8 million Health Information Technology strategic plan.

He has lectured at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Fielding School of Public Health, and has been a guest lecturer at the California Institute of Technology (CalTech), at the University of Southern California (USC), and at California State University, Los Angeles. USC honored him for his teaching at the USC Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. He was a finalist for the Advanced Business League (ABL) Innovative Leadership Award for Healthcare. In 2016, the Los Angeles Business Journal lauded Sajid as “CIO/CTO of the Year” across all industries in the Greater Los Angeles Area. Currently, he is an advisory board member of the California Health eQuality Initiative, based at the University of California, Davis. He is a devoted husband and father of two, and enjoys backpacking, running, and diving.
 

Richard Katz

Richard has been an advisor and has been serving on the board of e2o Health since 2009. Richard Katz is the CEO of HRMS, Inc. HRMS, Inc. (a California corporation, established in 1983) provides recruitment, employment, job training and educational services across multiple industries on a national basis. In 2008, as part of the national effort to accelerate Electronic Health Records adoption, HRMS was awarded HITECH ACT funding to provide Health IT (HIT) workforce solutions. HRMS HIT projects include producing conferences under the brand name, HealthTECH Workforce Forums; securing HHS funds to manage Orange Coast Community Colleges HIT training program; and creating sustainable income by designing a series of online and classroom HIT job search training courses entitled, Overcoming Work Experience Barriers to Health IT Employment.

Richard Katz is a frequent national conference speaker at HIMSS, AACC and NAWB conferences on Health IT workforce topics. In the public sector arena, HRMS proposed and secured millions of federal, state and local funding, providing job training and employment services for adult dislocated workers and hard-to-serve populations, including designing and operating the first Welfare-to-Work program for the State of California, operating customized, employer-based programs under the brand names Spotlight on Jobs and Hollywood Digital Careers and, in partnership with Monster Worldwide, creating and implementing a website and companion $500,000 marketing campaign for the California Economic and Workforce Development Department.

Richard is a leader in the application of technology to employment services, developing the self-guided, classroom job search training course Dot.com Job Search, producing Meet Your Next Employer, the countrys first regularly scheduled healthcare recruitment broadcast TV program, and designing two day Experienced Alumni Career Conferences for the entire University of California 10-campus system, the University of Houston and Indiana University.

Richard has a graduate degree in business from UCLA Anderson School of Management.

I am passionate about helping health centers because their mission aligns with my public health passion of delivering community based and high quality primary health care services to underserved communities.

What do you care about personally?

First and foremost, my husband and three children. I am also passionate about maternal and child health, particularly surrounding environmental health inequities.

Your Education: I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley and my Master of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley.

Your Hobbies: I enjoy trying new fitness classes, making countless lists, playing with my children, and sleeping (when I can!).

I enjoy working with health centers because I get the opportunity to contribute to patient care access improvements and maximizing efficiency. I care about helping Health Centers because their mission to help those who lack access to health care is in line with my values.

What do you care about personally?

Most importantly I care about my family. I also care about social justice issues, food education and nutrition advocacy.

Your Education: I attended the University of California, Riverside for my undergraduate degree in Anthropology (the study of human societies and cultures) and am currently looking to further my education.

Your Hobbies: My hobbies include trying out new recipes, nature walks and reading self-help books.
